Bucket Test in Talawadi Na Chapda

Img_0460
The cart was set to accomodate the buckets it was designed for - 18"x12" semi rectangular cross-section buckets.

It is worth noting that most everyone, when asked, says they prefer the cart to have buckets, not sacks. I think this is because the sacks have never proven themselves as a concept, not that they are incapable, though.

The size of the cart was really perfect for the lanes of this slum, and this was very well liked. The wastepicker collects from a small area, and slum waste production is low so the waste collected from her entire day of work (1.5 to 2 hours) all fit in the cart quite nicely.

The emptying was not difficult because it was loose, mixed waste, but if this was filled with compacted Sun City organ waste this would not fly.
